On October 22, 2021, the 9th "Cross-strait Marine Environment Monitoring and Prediction Technology Seminar" was held in Xiamen University.  Taiwan strait symposium held by the Xiamen university Marine ecosystem state field scientific observation station (hereinatier referred to as "standing" in the Taiwan strait), central Taiwan university hydrology and Marine science research institute, Taiwan ocean university, the national Marine environmental forecasting center, Fujian provincial oceanic &fishery administration, jointly organized by electronic information institute, Wuhan university,  Jointly undertaken by Dongshan Pacific Ocean Observation and Experiment Station of Xiamen University and Fujian Key Laboratory of Marine and Land Boundary Ecological Environment.  Affected by the epidemic, the conference was conducted online and offline simultaneously.  Nearly 100 people from more than ten research institutes, government departments and enterprises from both sides of the Taiwan Straits atiended the conference.  Experts and scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait have made speeches, expressing their eagerness to strengthen cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation and agreeing that there are many areas for cross-Straits cooperation in disaster prevention and reduction.  

The Seminar on Marine Environmental Monitoring and Forecasting technology across the Taiwan Straits was co-sponsored by Prof. Huasheng Hong of Xiamen University, Prof. Kang-ke Liu of Central University, and Prof. Chia-jun Gao of Cheng Kung University.  First held in Xiamen in October 2009, the conference has been hosted by the two sides in turn and has been held eight times so far.  Over the past ten years, the Seminar has become one of the most important platforms for academic exchanges and research cooperation in the field of Marine environment monitoring and prediction technology, and has played an important role in promoting cross-strait cooperation and development in the field of Marine observation and prediction technology.
